Promote journeys to production

Edited

This guide outlines how to promote your client configurations — including Authentication and other journeys — to the Production environment after testing and approval.

When to Promote

Before promoting, make sure:

  • The client exists in Production.

  • All changes have been tested in the Development environment.

  • Stakeholders have approved the configuration.

Step 1: Create the Client in Production (if not already created)

If your client does not exist in Production:

  1. Go to Clients and select the desired client.

  2. Click + Create Client in Prod.

  3. Complete the required fields

  4. Click Create Client.

This creates a copy of the client in Production so you will be able propagate changes to it.

Step 2: Make Changes in the Lowest Environment

To update journeys (e.g., Authentication Journey):

  1. Open the client in the Development environment.

  2. Select the journey you want to edit (e.g., Authentication Journey).

  3. Make your changes and click Save.

  4. Return to the Client Details screen.

Step 3: Propagate Changes to Upper Environments

  1. After saving, a red dot will appear on the next environment tab (e.g., Stage), indicating differences.

  2. Click the highlighted tab.

  3. A message will explain:

    • What has changed

    • The next action: Start propagation

  4. Click Start propagation to review a summary of changes:

    • Each updated item

    • Its current and updated values

  5. If everything looks correct, click Start propagation again.

  6. Add an optional comment for audit history.

  7. Click Propagate to apply the changes to the selected environment.

Repeat the process until Production is fully updated.

Tip

Use the Run feature in Development to validate changes before propagating. Use comments during propagation to track your deployment history.
